Maggie Thrett was the stage name of Diane Pine, who played Ruth Bonaventure, one of the three women that Harry Mudd was transporting as cargo for Lithium Miners in the Original Series episode Mudd's Women. Though she would go on to appear in several television shows and films, it was this role that she would be best known. She recalled that in making the episode, she had a very pleasant time. William Shatner was polite and welcoming, and she particularly enjoyed her scenes with DeForest Kelley.

Roger C. Carmel, who played the eponymous Mudd, was her downstairs neighbour at the time, a coincidence that only aided their performances. She had to endure a heavy make-up process while her character's Venus drug wore off. To achieve the older look, she was caked in duo surgical paste. Between application, filming, and removal, she edged into triple time, something the producers were not happy about. She fought to be paid what she had earned, then years later received a letter from Gene Roddenberry. He asked her to forfeit her residuals and donate them to his charity.

She declined.

Thrett would often find herself cast as Mexican or Native American characters, thanks in no small part to her long, brown hair. However, she did not enjoy the movie business, finding her music career far more rewarding. She was a talented singer, finding success with her singles Soupy and Walk On By.

She passed away on December 18, at 76 years of age.
