5 Films Nominated For Razzies In 2015 That Really Aren't That Bad

5. Mortdecai

Mortdecai got ripped to shreds by critics and was a major bomb at the box office, costing a whopping $60 million yet only garnering a worldwide gross of $47 mil. Although it may not be entirely surprising that audiences couldn't be bothered with it - Johnny Depp in fancy dress mode has gotten rather stale of late, and so the prospect of watching him once again go into goofball mode wasn't that attractive. Critics, however, were perhaps needlessly harsh in their assessment of the film. It does have its moments, the majority of which do stem from Charlie Mortdecai's toff-like, naive and baffled responses to those around him. If anything, it bears a lot of similarities to Matt Berry's brand of humour in the successful British cult comedy, Toast of London. Depp is clearly having fun, and those who open themselves up to this brand of humour will at least find some part of it amusing. It's hard to say what people were expecting from Mortdecai, but either way I'd wager it was too damn much. The argument is obviously that we should expect a lot from Depp considering the caliber of talent that he is, but anyone who had seen the trailer for this surely would have known that it was never going to be What's Eating Gilbert Grape 2: Still Eating.
