50 Infuriating Horror Movie Characters We All Secretly Wanted To Die

45. The Burning - Glazer

The Burning is one of the most underrated horror films of them all. A summer camp slasher that's comfortably superior to any of the Friday the 13th films, as well as other, more famous examples like Sleepaway Camp, The Burning is one of the greatest works this subgenre ever gave us.

Alongside its sharp visuals, brilliant music, and viscerally intense violence, one of the things that makes this one so refreshing is that the characters are generally an appealing, likable bunch who treat each other with respect. Having said that, there's nearly always got to be a jerk character in any slasher film, and The Burning, though a breath of fresh air in so many ways, does ultimately follow convention there.

In this flick, we have Glazer (Larry Joshua). He's a spiteful bully when he's faced with people smaller or less popular than him, but as soon as someone his own size stands up to him, he abruptly shows what a pathetic coward he actually is.

Still, the audience gets catharsis more than once. Alongside his eventual gory death at the hands of antagonist Cropsy (Lou David), there's also a delightful scene earlier on where some of the other campers give him his just deserts. In retaliation for his relentless tormenting of Alfred (Brian Backer), he gets shot in the rear with a pellet gun while he's trying (not very successfully) to chat up some women.
