9 Movies With Way Too Many Plot Twists

5. Reindeer Games

James Bond Spectre
Dimension Films

Charlize Theron considers Reindeer Games the worst film she’s ever made, and it’s hard to disagree. You should reasonably expect a bit more from John Frankenheimer - the director of classic thrillers like The Manchurian Candidate and Seconds - but his mojo certainly wasn’t with him on this one.

In the movie, Ben Affleck plays an ex-con who poses as his dead cellmate in order to get close to the man's attractive pen-pal. From there he gets sucked into a scheme to rob a casino, thanks to her evil brother. Sadly for Ben, it’s revealed halfway through he's actually her lover and she set him up, which leads to a positively dizzying amount of double crosses.

The movie pushes itself way too far by the climax, when it’s revealed his cellmate isn’t dead, but is the real leader behind the heist. This makes no fricking sense at all, and at this stage it's hard to care about any of it.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
