3. Assassin's Creed
Huh?Assassin's Creed is one of the best loved gaming series of this era - which other games allows you to leap around beautifully-rendered, historial cities, diving off rooftops and stabbing people in the back of the neck? None is the answer, and that's what makes this series so awesome. As Desmond Miles, players are tasked with travelling back in time using a special machine and inhabiting the body of his ancestors, the "Assassins," in an attempt to stop the world from coming to an end. It sounds pretty hammy, sure, but it works within the confines of the game. Michael Fassbender, who you know from
Inglourious Basterds and
Prometheus, is a big fan of the series, and has currently committed himself to getting a movie version made, rumoured to have him in the Desmond Miles role. No real details are available at the moment, but what we do know for sure is that this thing is actually in production as we speak.
Could It Work? Um,
yes. As in, definitely. And with Michael Fassbender in the starring role (fingers crossed), here's a video game adaptation genuinely imbued with the credibility it would otherwise lack if somebody like Uwe Boll had got his filthy mitts around it. The game itself is ripe for cinematic representation, though, given its the stunt-orientated nature and, um, tendencies towards the ultra-violent. Not that the violence is important or anything... (please: make it bloody).
