Age Of Ultron: 10 Concerns You Should Have About The Avengers Sequel
4. Hawkeye Having A Key Role
Thanks to Marvel President Kevin Feige, we have known for a while that Hawkeye would be a prominent character in this movie. In an interview with JoBlo a few months back, he had quite a lot to say about the movie and, in particular, the Hulk and Hawkeye. When he was asked a question specifically about the Hulk, he said "Part of the fun of 'Age of Ultron' was saying, 'you've seen another Iron Man adventure before, you see another Thor adventure and another Cap adventure, but we haven't seen the Green Goliath again'. So that was important in the characters you haven't seen - Hulk being one of them and Hawkeye being one of them - 'Ultron' will make up for it. They have very big parts in 'Age of Ultron'." Most people will have been pleased with the news about the Hulk, but the Hawkeye revelation has brought up concerns for a couple of reasons; The first is that people are yet to properly meet the character. For much of the first Avengers movie, he was a mindless slave. Are we ready for a character that some people (those who are only familiar with him from the movies) regard as a relative nobody to take a big role? The second reason is that, if Hawkeye ends up defeating Ultron, some people will find it ridiculous, in that he's just a human and the likes of Hulk and Thor couldn't do it. Everyone familiar with the comic books knows Hawkeye is a great character, and it's awesome when the supposedly weaker characters end up playing just as big a part as the gods and monsters of the Avengers team, but this might be the wrong time for a character who has yet to be developed in any way to take centre stage. A solo movie, more development in prior movies, or even an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode devoted to the character should really have come first.
