Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Ways The Heroes Could Save The Day

5. Captain America - A Great Sacrifice

If something needs to be done, Captain America is a man who's generally prepared to do it - even at a major cost to his own well-being, or even at the cost of his life. He proved this in his first Marvel Cinematic Universe outing when he guided the Red Skull's plane towards the Arctic, seeing no way to land it anywhere else without detonating its weapons near civilisation. As a result, there's every chance he could sacrifice himself in a similar manner in order to defeat Ultron. As an example, the Avengers could discover a way to trigger an explosion inside Ultron and the only way to do it could be to get close to the robot. Captain America could volunteer, despite the Avengers' reservations, and take the full brunt of the explosion himself in the process. Chris Evans and Marvel have made it known that the actor won't be playing Cap in the long-term and, despite the fact that he is scheduled to appear in Captain America 3, he might be killed off in this movie, with Bucky Barnes taking up the role in tribute to his former best friend, and to continue his legacy. However, the more likely scenario in the event of Captain America sacrificing himself is that he will appear to die, only for his fellow Avengers and viewers to find out that his shield saved him. This will, of course, allow Evans to continue in the role in Captain America 3 and more likely be killed off facing down Thanos in the third Avengers movie.
