15. We Still Don't Know Why Thanos Gave Loki A Stone

Ahead of the film's release, one of the biggest questions that a lot of fans would have wanted to see answered related to the Mind Stone - or its previous guise as the power behind Loki's sceptre, anyway.

In The Avengers, Loki was given the sceptre as a means to help his conquest of Earth, in exchange for him handing over the Tesseract to Thanos. Unfortunately, the logic of him giving up one Infinity Stone to get another (when he should never have trusted Loki if he had half a brain) just didn't fit his burning desire to get his hands on all of the Stones.

It was an oversight, but surely Infinity War would have some plan to retcon the problem away? If they did, they didn't bother using it, because there's nothing in the film that even casually addresses why Thanos would do that. Sure, he calls Loki a failure, but more of an explanation should have been added for the sake of closing that plothole. It was a missed opportunity.
