Every Nick Robinson Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
1. Love, Simon
Though Robinson juggled his time between big-screen spectacles and independent darlings, his best performances usually came from the latter simply because he always had better material to work with. But that all changed in 2018 when he gave a career-defining performance in the groundbreaking Love, Simon.
The first major Hollywood movie to primarily focus on a gay teenage romance, Robinson played the closeted high school student Simon Spier as he finds himself blackmailed by a classmate who threatens to out him just as he's falling in love with a fellow student online. And this ultimately sparks a journey that is every bit as witty as it is heartwarming, all while doing wonders for representation on the big screen.
The story is simple and yet its executed with such care that the message is anything but. It's powerful, moving, light-hearted and funny, and Robinson is nothing short of a relevation here - delivering a performance the likes of which he usually saved for smaller productions by giving us a Simon that is so well-nuanced and relatable that we can't help but feel everything that he feels.
