3. William Thatcher - A Knight's Tale

Some films you just know
really want to be cool. A Knights Tale is one of those films. A medieval adventure that spent obscene amounts of time on jousting matches and how good buddies the central characters were, it made some major (and very obvious) steps to appeal to a young audience; the soundtrack frequently dips into rock music for no real stylistic justification and Ledger was cast as the lead purely for his heartthrob status. Just look at the poster - all it says about the film is that "HEATH LEDGER IS IN THIS!" Heath has very little to work with; Thatchers motivation is typical (oh no, his master died) and key character development is doled in conveniently-timed flashbacks. Worst of all, theres some chemistry with the other blokes, but none with the supposed love interests.
