Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus Review - 8 Ups & 1 Down

7. Vasquez Brings The Insanity

Invader Zim creator Jhonen Vasquez is known for his off the wall sense of humor. In fact, a big part of what gave the original series its charm is that it would frequently push the envelope, often times feeling like a game Vasquez and company were playing to see just how much twisted content they could get away with while still maintaining a TV-Y7 rating. (There was literally an organ harvesting episode, after all.)

Fans of the original two seasons of Invader Zim will likely be excited to hear that this approach to the franchise's tone has not been lost on the new film, as it's clear that good old Mr. Scolex didn't hold back when penning the script for Enter the Florpus.

Examples of just how unabashedly out thee the film is include Professor Membrane's Tony Stark-esque antics, the explanation of where Zim's been all this time (in a toilet) and GIR repeatedly launching the neighborhood dog into space, not to mention the ham (take note of the ham, it will appear later in this article.)

In other words, if you want a fresh take on the utter insanity Invader Zim's original television run was known for, Enter the Florpus is definitely for you.
