Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every Upcoming Film Ranked By Anticipation
1. Avengers: Infinity War & Avengers 4
Release Dates: May 4, 2018 & May 3, 2019
Originally announced as two-parts of one Infinity War story, the third and fourth Avengers films have since taken a different path, with only the third film receiving the Infinity War title while the fourth remains undisclosed. It's been promised that both films will feel distinct from one another despite being filmed at the same time, but the fact remains that they'll be serving as the culmination of a decade's worth of storytelling and character building.
Between the two films, pretty much everyone you can imagine will be appearing, from the various members of the Avengers and the Guardians to currently-solo characters like Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Spider-Man, to incoming heroes like The Wasp and Captain Marvel to villains like Loki and, of course, Thanos. We've still got a number of films between now and then left to unveil more about Thanos, but the ultimate showdown with the character is something that will undoubtedly be epic, and the sheer weight of expectation on the films' shoulders will only increase the closer we get to their release.
Everyone involved is still playing coy as to whether or not we'll finally see characters from the Netflix shows or if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will show up to help close out this momentous chapter in this franchise, and while many fingers are crossed to make that happen, the film is already loaded enough, and with the looming prospect of a number of actor contracts ending, the film is going a long way to raise the stakes in terms of who will survive the ordeal.
Marvel has every opportunity to make this two-part story one for the ages before a whole new, mysterious era begins with Phase 4, and on that idea alone, the two Avengers films are easily the projects worth being most excited for.
