Ranking July 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

9. Our Kind Of Traitor

Ghostbusters Jason Bourne Ice Age
Lionsgate

RottenTomatoes Score: 70% (6.0/10)

Box Office: Though the budget hasn't been publicly disclosed, it's safe to say that its $8.4 million worldwide gross makes it a dead-on-arrival flop. Blame the atrociously low-key marketing campaign.

Verdict: It may not rank among the better big-screen adaptations of John le Carre novels, but thanks to strong work from Ewan McGregor, Damian Lewis and Stellan Skarsgard in particular, this is a thoroughly compelling thriller that constantly upends expectations and serves up a ton of classy thrills along the way.

The premise is certainly a little more generic than, say, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, but director Susanna White ratchets up the tension and Anthony Dod Mantle's gorgeous cinematography makes even the talkier scenes pop visually.
