Star Trek: Every Starfleet Starship Class Ranked Worst To Best

14. Constitution (Kelvin)

The Constitution class ships that were designed after the arrival of Nero were quite different from those that had existed in the 'prime' timeline. Due to the increased threat presented by the Romulan ship Narrada, Starfleet was forced to seek ways to improve the defensive and offensive capabilities of its fleet.

The Constitution class was a direct result of this. It was much larger than its alternate counterpart, while also being more advanced. It was faster and tougher, able to withstand prolonged assault on multiple occasions - even from a vessel with advanced Starfleet knowledge.

Unlike its alternate counterpart, this type of Constitution class had managed to find a way to make its deflector dish less of a liability. While it had long been assumed that targeting a ship's deflector could destroy the entire vessel, the USS Enterprise was able to withstand direct assault against its dish without being destroyed. Admittedly, the ship was destroyed moments later by attack fighters.

But at least the dish wasn't the cause!
