10 Comic Book Characters That Deserve Their Own Major Video Game
8. Punisher
When the Punisher made his debut in 1974, he received a mixed reception from fans. But by the 1980s, there was a massive wave of new psychologically-troubled antiheroes, and the Punisher was often held up by readers as one of the best.
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Frank Castle wages a one-man war on crime after his wife and two children are killed by the mob. With his extraordinary skill in hand-to hand combat, guerrilla warfare and marksmanship, Frank has no problems with killing his targets and will even use kidnapping, extortion, coercion and torture to achieve his goals.
But where the world of video games is no stranger to badass gun wielding antiheroes, the Punisher presents a slightly more complex set of questions to tackle. He shows constant doubt and frustration over his self-appointed role of a killer vigilante, which often leads to some extensive soul-searching as to what is the right thing to do.
Where it would be easy to assume that a game about the Punisher would be pretty straight forward shoot ‘em up experience, it would be interesting to see a developer explore and highlight the characters internal struggles.
