10 Craziest Video Game Myths (That Turned Out To Be True)

9. You Could Originally Play As All The Bonds In GoldenEye

GoldenEye 64 had a profound impact on the FPS genre, and proved movie tie-in games didn€™t always have to be total crap. Since people played the game to death various myths started to spring up like the rumour players could visit a secret level during the opening dam section; which is only partially true, since an abandoned test stage in the level can be only be reached via cheating.

The All Bonds cheat came to people€™s attention because of an April Fool€™s joke in a videogame magazine, where they claimed if you finished a level under very specific circumstances you could play as Connery, Dalton or Moore (poor Lazenby wasn't included) in multiplayer.

Whoever came up with the gag didn'€™t realise how close to the truth they were. It turns out Rare planned to include the different versions of Bond in multiplayer but for various reasons €“like not having permission to use the likeness of the actors€“ they removed it. The code is still buried within the game, but Rare took away the ability to access it.
