10 Criminally Underrated Video Games That Deserve A Second Chance
7. World Of Final Fantasy
Why it got overlooked:
World of Final Fantasy got a fair amount of hype before release. Reviews were resoundingly positive and hardcore Final Fantasy fans expressed excitement.
While initial sales weren't disastrous, Square Enix made the fatal flaw of releasing it shortly before Final Fantasy XV – you know, the game it took them over a decade to make.
Enticed by the realistic graphics, new gameplay and compelling story, fans rushed to grab their copy of FFXV, leaving World of Final Fantasy to the bargain bin.
Why it deserves a second chance:
Loveable and compelling characters, a colourful world to explore, war and monsters, and the return of the Active Time Battle system. It is, at it's very core, a classic Final Fantasy game.
The game was released as a 30th anniversary love letter to fans, so gives the players enormous opportunity to visit old locations and fight alongside fan favourite characters from the series, including Cloud, Squall and Tidus. The battle system also introduces a fun new Pokemon style element of capturing monsters which can then be reused in battles, or combined to unlock fun and powerful abilities.
