10 Exceptional Moments In Otherwise Disappointing Video Games

4. The Final Climb - Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was damn-near brilliant. One of the best games to ever grace the PlayStation 2, the overarching character development and engrossing gameplay was spectacular.

Any sequel would struggle to live up to such a high bar of quality, and after a couple of serviceable sequels, Forgotten Sands promised to break that curse.

And did it? Well kind of. The gameplay was refined and well-executed, but the characters left more to be desired. Where Sands of Times had the character develop from snotty stuck up Prince, Forgotten Sands ran for the finish line with it, making him somewhat unlikable and losing any inbuilt charm.

That said, the game had a last-minute ace up its tattered sleeve, in the form of a final charge where you wielded your new sword and began to fight through a tower of enemies. Where one falls, another takes its place as an epic sandstorm raged in the background, and the feeling of pushing through this mountain of enemies to face the grotesque monstrous form of your former brother was fantastic.

It captured a damn fine epic moment and did it well, which is more than you can say about The Two Thrones.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
