10 Greatest Ever Final Fantasy Summons

4. Ramuh

final fantasy X ifrit
Square Enix

Another FFIII entry, Ramuh is the lightning-based elemental who, due to his appearance as a wise old man, often relies more on plot progression, puzzle solving, or dialogue to convince him of joining the party, as opposed to the more violent methods of Ifrit and Leviathan. Ramuh only appears as a main series boss fight in FFIV (in Rydia's Luna Trial) and FFV.

Ramuh is a good, reliable summon to have in the party. Whilst his lightning damage may not always be the most powerful, it is always damaging enough and without requiring huge chunks of MP to cast.

He is also, more often than not, one of the first summons to be obtained in a Final Fantasy game, and his appearance often marks a shift in pace or tone of the plot as our heroes discover a new power beholden to them in their fight against evil.
