10 Iconic Video Game Franchises That Can't Catch A Break

6. Beyond Good And Evil

Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been in development hell for over a decade now. The first game was critically acclaimed but didn't do very well when it came to sales, which lead to publishers being reluctant to fund a sequel. However a leaked trailer was released in 2008 that suggested that the franchise may be making a return sooner rather than later. Problem is, that was eleven years ago. And the game still hasn't released.

While it is true that we now have confirmation that a prequel is in development, being announced in 2016 and followed by a trailer at E3 2017, three years on there still hasn't been a confirmation regarding a release date. It truly seems that the game could be stuck in a state of development hell, with it seeming more likely by the day.

It's unfortunate for the series, as despite being a single game, Beyond Good and Evil is renowned as a cult classic of the early 21st century. For the game's next instalment to be so close yet so far is just quite disheartening. Fingers crossed that within the next year we get some concrete details about what could be next for the franchise.
