10 Iconic Video Game Franchises That Can't Catch A Break
3. Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider is an early PlayStation classic and Lara Croft quickly became one of the console's key mascots as the game series soared in popularity. The games were so popular that there was even two Tomb Raider movies starring Angelina Jolie. Unfortunately the series began to lose steam as it entered the twenty first century, despite the games still being well received.
The series made a triumphant return in 2013 with a new reboot that took Lara Croft in a more realistic and dark direction. It was really well received and led to two sequels that have gone on to do well. But they haven't done amazing sales wise, with each entry in the reboot making less sales than the last. While Tomb Raider is by no means in trouble, it also doesn't seem to be getting the attention it deserves.
The newest games are fantastic and did an excellent job of bringing the franchise into the modern day, so it's disappointing to see the series not get the appreciation it deserves. Not to mention, it's really annoying when people compare it to Uncharted.
