10 Loveable Side Characters Who Deserve Their Own Video Games

7. Auron (Final Fantasy X)

Final Fantasy X may focus on the story of Tidus (he'll remind you constantly throughout that it's his story) but it's another character that we remember far more fondly. Auron is a mysterious badass with a healthy appetite for alcohol and killing enemies; it's easy to see why he's so popular. His story is pretty complete by the time Final Fantasy X finishes (no spoilers here, go play for yourself!) but there's plenty of opportunity for a prequel title, featuring Auron, Jecht and Braska's pilgrimage from ten years previously. With a younger, less-experienced Auron at the helm, we'd be able to see the development of his character first hand and explore an older version of Spira, allowing us to compare and contrast between the two timelines. Plus, Auron's story would have a major emotional climax which needs to be explored with full FMV scenes €“ if you've played through FFX, you'll know that Braska's pilgrimage ends in a very dramatic fashion and it has big repercussions for both Auron and Jecht. Exploring these scenes in a more complete manner would be a guaranteed fan-pleaser. It's highly unlikely that Square will revisit the world of Spira at any point (the recent HD remasters are probably our last look, sadly) but if they do, they really need to consider giving Auron the starring role.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
