10 Loveable Side Characters Who Deserve Their Own Video Games
6. Alyx Vance (Half-Life 2)
When a game features a silent protagonist, it needs a strong voice to support them and keep the player company throughout. Alyx Vance is a great example of this; her humour and constant chatter helping keep Half-Life 2's story alive, and we genuinely miss her when we're separated from her. Luckily, the two episodic games feature her more heavily and it's made us wonder how a Half-Life game where we don't play as Dr. Freeman might be welcomed. The episodic nature of Half-Life 2's continuing story would have been the perfect way to give Alyx a starring role but unfortunately, it seems Valve has abandoned the idea of a third episode. It's a shame as Episode Two ends on a big personal cliffhanger for Alyx; therefore playing a game where we deal with her emotions first hand would have been a great tribute to the character. As it stands, we don't even know whether Alyx will be appearing in Half-Life 3 at all (or if that game even exists!). If Valve does decide to return to that cliffhanger with a third episode, we definitely want to experience it from Alyx's point of view.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
