10 Major Problems With 2018's Biggest Video Games

2. Far Cry 5 Can't Help Coming Out At The Worst Possible Time

Far Cry 5's upcoming issues are not the fault of Ubisoft - at least not outside of choosing to centre a game around a small hyper right-wing cult of extremists cordoning off a chunk of the American Bible belt to stage a coup, anyway.

Sadly, in the time Far Cry 5 has been in development we've seen increasingly violent unrest across America. Left and right political ideologies are more fractured than ever, the 'Alt-Right' and 'Antifa' both feel like something from a fictional context in the first place, and outside of many left-wingers associating the cartoonish depiction of the right with the "Project at Eden's Gate" cult in-game, we have the recent travesty in Las Vegas overtop.

Releasing a game based on gunning down Americans that's so politically-charged - intentionally or not, depending on which facet you're analysing - can only result in a melting pot of reactionary opinions and twisted intent - one that is a major problem for Far Cry 5's messaging no matter which way you look at it.
