10 MORE Best Pokémon You Never Bothered Catching

6. Cursola

Game Freak

This ghost type Pokémon is the evolved form of Galarian Corsola. Some may say this cautionary tale about global warming and coral bleaching is a rather unorthodox pick. Cursola physical defence and speed are abysmal, but the special attack and special defence stats are ridiculously good.

Its Perish Body ability is a fascinating one. Whenever a physical attack makes contact with Cursola, it inflicts the Perish Song effect for both Pokémon. After three turns, if the Pokémon is still on the battlefield, it will faint. This can be useful to stall your opponent into switching out, allowing Cursola to set up traps.

The typical move choice for Cursola is Stealth Rock, Shadow Ball, Hydro Pump, and Endure. Endure will always leave Cursola with 1 HP if it works, so can be an effective stalling technique.

It's more common to see a competitive Cursola use the Weak Armor ability, which lowers its defence when hit with a physical attack, but also increases its speed two stages.

Combined with the Focus Sash item, this puts the rest of a highly offensive team in a great position. Just make sure to EV train it in speed and special attack first.
