7. The Punisher

The Punisher was a great third person actioner, featuring everyone's favourite grim-faced avenger. You could shoot, torture and maim baddies to your hearts content, and there are fun cameos by Black Widow, Nick Fury and Iron Man.

The game also functioned as a semi-sequel to 2004's Punisher movie, with Tom Jane returning to play Frank Castle and a villain from the movie becoming the new Jigsaw. The game ended with The Punisher finally taking Jigsaw down, but a post credit scene reveals his kill-happy ways have enraged The Kingpin, who vows to take The Punisher down. While the game was a hit and reasonably well received critically, the promised sequel never emerged.

A sequel would have apparently featured characters like Daredevil, Elektra and Deadpool making appearances, though it sadly never got any further than the planning stage.
