10 Most Infuriating Unresolved Video Game Cliffhangers
6. Clive Barker's Jericho
Clive Barker's Jericho had a lot going for it; a story by a well-renowned horror genius, a rich mythology and some truly disgusting enemy designs. Where it fell down was the ham-fisted dialogue and repetitive combat, where blasting constantly respawning enemies became an awesome chore after awhile. Still, it garnered a small fanbase who were keen to see more adventures with the Jericho squad; too bad they didn't get any.
The game follows a team of paranormal soldiers trying to take down The Firstborn, who was God's first attempt at creating a being in his image. The final conflict has them enter a portal to kill it once and for all, which they appear to manage despite losing a couple of team members. They swim into a chasm and emerge on the other side and...that's it, the credits roll.
It's an annoyingly abrupt conclusion that intentionally leaves a lot of questions unanswered (is The Firstborn actually dead, for one) and a sequel never arrived. Barker did tease his idea for the next story, but the odds of it happening now are practically zero.
