10 Most Useless Character Customisations Found In A Video Game

3. Brink

Far Cry 5
Splash Damage

A bit of a deep cut now, with 2011's highly anticipated - yet ultimately rather disappointing - FPS Brink. Despite its shallow parkour gameplay quickly running out of steam, things were ultimately pretty superficial from the ground-up.

Indeed, Brink's character customisation lacked one of the most basic features of just about any modern video game: playing as a woman. Yup.

Despite heavily talking-up its deep character creator pre-release, Brink hit stores with no option to create a female combatant, immediately making the game unapproachable for, say, only around 50% of the world's population.

Though those wishing to create male characters were admittedly afforded a decent wealth of options, Brink fell at the first hurdle because developers Splash Damage made such a gross omission.

Rumour has it that the team removed female options due to technical limitations - as in, it would take away space for the extensive male options - but that's a pretty weak sauce excuse any way you slice it.

It's ultimately just one of the game's several fatal mistakes, yet an especially egregious one.
