10 Obscure Video Game Movie Tie-Ins You Had No Idea Existed
8. Virus: It Is Aware
Odds are you probably don’t recall Virus, a 1998 horror flick with Jamie Lee Curtis. It was based on a cult comic about an alien virus that turns people and machines into murderous creatures. It sounds like fun, but the movie was a turgid mess that even Curtis cites as her worst movie ever; and remember, she made Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Halloween: Resurrection.
The movie was a big budget deal, so of course they tried to rush out a tie-in game, with "rush" being the key word. The best the developer could come out with was a seriously undercooked cooked survival horror effort, with terrible graphics and a wonky control scheme. The player is initially equipped with a handgun that has the stopping power of a water pistol, which will lead them to die many, many times.
The whole game has the air of something that was thrown together quickly, and there was no time to go back over it and fix the many glaring faults. Still, it managed to be better than the film; just about.
