10 Reasons Super Mario Odyssey Isn't Game Of The Year
6. Awkward Use Of Motion Controls
Perhaps the most complained-about aspect of Odyssey so far is Nintendo's insistence to include motion control mechanics, without which players are unable to execute some of the game's snazziest moves.
Now, it's worth saying that motion controls are in no way "forced" as some claim: it is easily possible to complete the entire game without using them. However, those who use motion controls will have a distinct advantage, and without getting to grips with it, you'll be unable to master the full scope of Mario's movement.
It's a shame there isn't a more complex array of control options which allow players to execute these moves through button presses, both for those who simply don't care for motion controls, and physically disabled players who lack the means.
Surely this can be patched in, right? Don't count on it, though.
