10 Things Ubisoft Wants You To Forget
3. Fully-Detailed Genitals Being Found In Watch Dogs 2
For the most part, Watch Dogs 2 managed to steer clear of the controversy that haunted its predecessor, but just when everything looked like smooth sailing, disaster struck. Once the game was in the hands of players, they were quick to point out that Ubisoft had endowed character models with detailed genitals.
These anatomically-correct NPCs cropped up seemingly everywhere you turned, with dudes either walking around with their wangs out or women averse to the concept of "underwear". It's not like you had to go looking for nudity like a weirdo, either. In fact, there were whole hippy colonies who'd walk around butt naked, taking in the scorching hot sun of San Fran.
Of course, because we live in a society where being able to decapitate hundreds of people in video games is fine but showing a nipple isn't, hysteria spread about Watch Dogs 2 and its liberal depiction of the human body.
In the end Ubisoft released a patch to take out these instances of partial nudity, which is a shame in a way. The game is presented as potentially even more lighthearted than GTA V, so naked people freely walking about was more than inline with its crazy, over-the-top world.
