10 Things We Know About PES 2018
7. It Comes Out Before FIFA
This could be the real sticking point for digital footy fans. FIFA 18 is set for worldwide release on September 29, but Konami will beat EA to the punch by putting PES 2018 on shelves by September 12 (in the United States) and September 14 (everywhere else, including the UK). That's over a fortnight before FIFA lands.
Obviously, Konami are looking to get a head start on sales and tempt gamers to splash out on their title first. This seems like smart strategy, because there's no way PES can compete with FIFA's hype during release week. By releasing their game early, Konami should reap the benefits of a gaming community which is more impatient than ever.
Those 2 weeks may well be huge for PES. Should the game be a smash hit, the PC version run smooth and the usual 'Data Packs' boasting real-life team names, kits and leagues come out, then those who purchase FIFA only for the licenses might be satisfied with what Konami are selling.
