10 Things We Know About PES 2018
2. There Are New Set Piece/Kick Off Mechanics
Those who perfected it will argue there's nothing wrong with PES 2017's set piece system. Corners are way more accurate in PES than FIFA and have been for years, but it wasn't until FIFA 17's tinkering with dead balls that PES had the better free kick mechanics. This year, Konami want to do their own adjusting.
Right now, it's unclear exactly what this means, but we do know free kicks and corners are likely to feel very different in PES 2018. In addition, PES will also be adding the new one-player kick offs we've been seeing in real football recently, so dead ball situations across the board are seeing alterations.
The non-stop race towards full player interaction during set pieces continues in football games. Will Konami and EA Sports ever perfect the beautiful free kicks of players like Ronaldo and (for an older generation) Beckham? Scoring from a dead ball feels more like blind luck than skill at the moment.
