10 Things You Didn't Know About Heavy Rain

5. Ethan’s New Apartment Is From A Previous Quantic Dream Title

Heavy Rain
Sony Interactive Entertainment

In what is widely considered to be Heavy Rain's "best" ending (despite it being impossible for FBI agent Norman Jayden to survive unscathed), Ethan is seen moving into a spacious, empty apartment with Madison and surviving son Shaun. Players have noticed something familiar about its layout and general design, however.

The open-plan space, with its load-bearing columns and large floor-to-ceiling windows looks suspiciously similar to the home of Lucas Kane, the hapless protagonist of Fahrenheit. Ethan even quips that "a friend of a friend allowed him to jump in line" for the property, further alluding to a shared universe between the two games. Even though the apartment isn't exactly the same, it wouldn't be a stretch for some remodelling to have been done over time, and I'd rather give credit to the developers for including this Easter egg than simply assume that David Cage has an extremely narrow view of what constitutes a nice apartment.
