10 Times Video Games Ripped You Off

7. Silver And Gold Chests - The Elder Scrolls Blades

Cod Points - Micro Transatcions
Bethesda

Bethesda has seemingly been on a tear lately, determined to burn away as much goodwill with their fanbase as they possibly can. And while The Elder Scrolls Blades has been overshadows by much larger offenses that we'll get to in a minute, make no mistake, this game is an utter ripoff.

Like pretty much all mobile games, Blades is riddled with microtransactions, but the most egregious offender of this is the chest system. Because the game couldn't just let players partake in the simple joy of clearing a dungeon and getting goodies, could it?

At the end of every dungeon you clear are three sets of chests, normal, silver, and gold. The normal ones open immediately but grant garbage. The other two open after a few hours of waiting, unless of course you shill out a few dollars to buy gems needed to open them right now.

A classic predatory tactic of mobile games, but considering the hype surrounding this game - seeing as how it was the first new Elder Scrolls game in years - the scam hurt all the more.
