10 Video Game Fights Developers Didn’t Want You To Win

As the final boss of the Blood and Wine DLC, it's fair to say that most people who got either ending that resulted in a throwdown with Dracula's wayward cousin were expecting a pretty serious fight.

However, because you fight Dettlaff in his more human form earlier in the game, you likely expect a kind of repeat of before - and you get it, until you whittle enough of his health down. What you then get is a screaming nightmare murder train hurtling towards you at a million miles an hour. Even if you were expecting a tough fight, you're still going to be surprised.

Not only does this second fight have two more phases, but each is more difficult - and more gross - than the last. After avoiding the flying missile enough to get him to his third phase, Dettlaff will then tear his own wings off and become made entirely out of blood.

While this is as intimidating as all hell, this phase is actually slightly less nightmarish - if you know what you're doing. Because if you destroy the meat arena you've both been placed in (and try not to think about it to hard), you're in for a relatively easy victory.

However, if you don't realise this is what you're supposed to be, you're left fighting a continually reviving blood monster for the rest of time. Enjoy!
