10 Video Game Fights Developers Didn’t Want You To Win
5. The Crone - Hearthstone
Generally, the story mode of Hearthstone isn't thought of as all that difficult. It's intended for players to run through to get new card or new experiences, and to provide something that grinding away at the multiplayer mode can't.
However, each story mode seems to have one devilishly difficult boss, and of these, The Crone is one of the toughest.
To start with, her fight is technically an escort mission, which is bad enough by itself. Said escort, named Dorothee, is placed as a monster on your side of the field - meaning she can be attacked unless you put protection down. And she only has 10 health, so you're going to have to make sure she's never unguarded, or she'll be crushed like a quail's egg under the foot of a dragon.
While the regular experience can be simply be taxing, her heroic mode is practically impossible, because she draws a card on turn eight that destroys everything on your side of the field. As such, in order to win, you're just gonna have to hope you get perfect card draws - or that you have a lot of free time to play it over and over again.
Nowadays, you can google a deck suitable to face the old gal, but back when it first came out there was no such luxury.
