6. Dino Crisis - Getting Rid Of Regina
The first Dino Crisis was an utterly superb survival horror title that essentially mated the worlds of Resident Evil and Jurassic Park. We played Regina, a special forces operative sent to investigate a top-secret facility that has become overrun with dinosaurs. It was thrilling, terrifying, and an utterly fresh take on a familiar genre. In Dino Crisis 2, the gameplay shifts to a more arcade-based, action-orientated style (with players switching between Regina and a new character, Dylan), and though very different, it's still a whole lot of fun to play. That all changed, however, with the third game, which completely upended everything we knew about Dino Crisis, and not for the better. For starters, Regina is nowhere to be seen, and the plot takes place over 500 years after the last game. Oh, and the dinosaurs aren't even actually dinosaurs, but DNA-infused mutations. The game was panned by many prominent critics, and unsurprisingly signaled the end of the series. What a shame.
