10 Video Games That Deserve A Remake

On the face of it, the one-eyed skeleton of a cowardly faker of a knight isn’t the most obvious choice for a video game protagonist. Sir Daniel Fortesque, however, benefitted from a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour from the developers and a game that never took itself too seriously to become a highlight of the original PlayStation.

The story, a tale of redemption for Sir Dan after being the first casualty in a battle against an evil wizard (after he was hand-chosen by the king to lead the charge, no less), was a great way for players to engage with the undead adventurer, wanting to prove himself a true hero so he could join the everlasting party in the afterlife.

A quirky sense of humour, including sarcastic gargoyles that would never pass up an opportunity to heckle Sir Dan and the spirits of farmers who would chase the skeleton with a stereotypical “oo-arr”, made this a blast to play through, and the optional quests in each mission rewarding the player with a new weapon kept things interesting.

After one sequel and a remake that suffered from only being released on PSP, all has been quiet for Sir Dan, although an appearance in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale shows that the jawless wonder has not yet been forgotten.

A new adventure for him would be a welcome treat on PS4.
