Arguably the first series of games to truly master implementing the Star Wars Universe, Jedi Knight started out as a relatively unknown first-person shooter in 1995 named Dark Forces, which was essentially a Doom clone with Stormtroopers instead of demons.

The sequel, Jedi Knight, added in the much-loved features of lightsabers and force powers, allowing players the choose whether to use light, dark or a mixture of both to build the character as they saw fit. The powers themselves were fantastically implemented, with great fun features such as using Force Pull to steal a Stormtrooper’s weapon, or using Darth Vader’s signature Force Choke in the same iconic way as everyone’s favourite Sith Lord.

The sequels, Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, expanded these further, and all of the games in the series were great fun, becoming genuinely excellent additions to the Star Wars mythology.

The seamless combination of first-person shooting and third-person lightsaber battles, along with the engaging story and great original characters, mean that a reboot would be a great addition to any modern console’s library.
