10 Ways To Make Sure The Call Of Duty Movie Doesn't Suck

8. Don't Tone Down The Violence

The Call Of Duty games are about war, violence and aggression and the level of gore reflects this. They are dark, violent games and some of the most memorable moments centre around this. Arms are blown off, heads are bashed in and throats are slit in up-close detail. This is to be expected as the games cover some mature subjects; and it of course appeals to the bloodlust of the fans. The violence is a series hallmark and to neuter it for the sake of getting a potential movie a lower rating would be a bad idea. There are obvious commercial reasons why toning it down would be a good business decision. Young males make up the majority of the movie going audience and as fans they€™ll want to see it; but neither they nor an older audience will be satisfied with a tame, watered down version of what they could just play at home. The first movie might be a success but people might avoid the sequels as a result. Recent movies like Mad Max: Fury Road and American Sniper showed it was possible to have grown up violence and still have a big hit. Hopefully that€™s a message Activision will take on moving forward.
