If You Already Like: Fable,Magic: The Gathering, Batman: Arkham-style combat.
If there's one thing that all players of the likes of Magic: The Gathering can attest to, it's forever visualising your card deck of monsters and spells during battle. The thing is, no game has ever put the requisite animation into making that a reality.
Until now. Hand of Fate doesn't feature a deck-on-deck setup like Hearthstone, but rather you build your personal hand of equipment, items and abilities, to which your mysterious opponent will then deal it back to you - adding enemies and obstacles to overcome in the process.
You then get thrown into a 'choose your own adventure'-type fare as various creatures and humans pop up for battle, trading and multiple choice story sections, occasionally warping into combat - which pleasurably plays like Batman: Arkham or Sleeping Dogs.
The best bit though? Seeing your custom hero go from card to reality:
Its budget may not be sky-high, but Hand of Fate's core concept is one of the most novel and enjoyable I've seen to date.
