15 Greatest Ever Video Game Anti-Heroes
7. Agent 47 - Hitman
If you are literally made in a laboratory to work as a killer-for-hire that carries out hits regardless of the target, can you really have an abject sense of good and evil? I suppose this is what you were always bound to get when you combine the DNA of four criminal masterminds and terrorists, and a psycho scientist.
Travelling the world assassinating targets, the player assumes the role as Agent 47. When he is on task, anyone that stands in his way is expendable. Whether it be aggressor or bystander, if they stand between Agent 47 and his target, they could end up kicking it prematurely.
Whilst in later iterations of the Hitman series Agent 47 is punished for going off-track and killing too many non-targets, there is still an uncomfortable level of acceptable casualties allowed by the International Contract Agency.
Although he largely only targets high-profile criminals and does show genuine compassion to the very few he cares about, it is almost impossible to see past his murderous career path and history of over-the-top violence.
Agent 47 literally dragged a guard out of a window and plunged him into the rocky waters below after the guard had just discovered that he was clear of cancer and began celebrating. Bit dark that.
