Being misled by Hideo Kojima in 2015 is something the gaming community quite rightly expects. Whether he's faking a development company to secretly release footage from an unannounced entry in the MGS series, or releasing a 'playable teaser' for a mystery game that turns out to be a new entry in the Silent Hill franchise, the gaming giant always has something up his sleeve. But there was once a time where you trusted everything you saw from Kojima, and the run up to the release of Metal Gear Solid 2 gave players no reason to question his motives. How foolish everyone felt then, when the game shipped and it turned out the face of the series, Solid Snake, wasn't actually MGS 2's main playable character. Trailers, gameplay videos and pre-release interviews all suggested that Snake was the hero throughout, with advertisements even going as far as showing him being controlled in sections of the game that aren't even in the final release. Instead of the legendary Solid Snake, an instant game icon beloved by millions, you got the then-unknown fop-haired rookie named Raiden. Nobody saw it coming, and to this day it remains the sole reason plenty people just can't look back on MGS 2 with anything less than a seething rage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cq6L1HV5gz4 Are there any we missed?
