15 Most Ridiculously Difficult Challenges In Final Fantasy History

11. 100% Completion (X-2)

Final Fantasy VII
Square Enix

Final Fantasy X-2 was the first game in the series to include a completion percentage, with almost every action taken by players contributing to it.

Many triggers were ridiculously specific, meaning that if they were missed players had to play through the game in its entirety to make use of the New Game Plus feature (another series first) to have another shot. These ranged from talking to different individuals in a specific order (often multiple times) to listening to a long conversation without ever interrupting (yet quickly responding when prompted to).

Perhaps the most frustrating of all was having to remember to speak to almost every NPC in the game in every chapter as part of a marketing campaign sidequest, or that one of the game's five chapters required events in each of the game's locations to be viewed through a remote camera network. These cameras had to be watched and manoeuvred several times over in a specific order to unlock specific scenes or interactions.

Add in difficult mini-games such as Sphere Break and Gunner's Gauntlet and a 100 floor dungeon without save points and players had one gargantuan slog on their hands, practically impossible to achieve without rigorously ticking off a checklist as they went.
