11. Evolve's DLC Debate
With Evolve being a multiplayer-only title and the developer's pre-release comments suggesting an aggressive focus on future downloadable content to support the game (it was "Built with DLC in mind"), many players were worried that the much anticipated shooter would hit store shelves suffering from a severe lack of on-disc monster-hunting gameplay. And in the end, it did - in a big way. Featuring only a handful of maps and three monsters, this online-only shooter was hardly the type of game that players could sink their teeth into and feel satisfied until the developers rolled out any sizeable new content. Because Evolve focused so much on its post-release stream of DLC, the creators and publisher ultimately forgot to give players enough of a reason to stick around. To be blunt, unless you're someone
cranking through the leaderboards for the sake of it, the whole game seemed to appear and disappear within a few days of release because of it.
