20 Moments That Made The Resident Evil Series Iconic

4. Defeating An Enemy On Your Last Bullet – All The Games

The survival horror genre was built on the idea that you’d have to survive not through fighting or firepower, but by managing resources and items carefully. Sometimes the best option was to just run away and save those precious shotgun shells for when it really mattered.

The games did a good job of instilling this idea in the player, but there were also times fighting was unavoidable. Going up against a Licker or Giant Snake was always going to be tense, and when you were low on health with about five bullets left, that didn’t do much for your confidence.

So there was no better feeling in the world than facing them down, aiming up your very last bullet, and hearing the reassuring sound of an enemies death groan when you took them down. It temporarily made you feel like a real badass, and that no matter how bad things got you could just about make it out alive.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
