16. Books

Games, cartoons and literature too! The first books were released in 1991 as a twelve part series titled, Nintendo Adventure Books. The series was of the 'choose-your-own-adventure' style which were based on Mario's adventures. Link got his own two books later in n1992. Another choose your own adventure books were brought out with the release of the Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. Other adventures included Link and the Portal of Doom, a children's novel released in 2006 and numerous manga books based on each of the games from the Ocarina of Time to the Minish Cap.

17. Nintendo Rivalry

Mario's made a couple of appearances, some subtle and some not so subtle. One in particular is Talon, the owner of Lon Lon Ranch, depicted as lazy and ignorant and adorning red shirt and blue overalls with a huge moustache, admittedly I didn't click on my first play through of Ocarina of Time until it was pointed out to me. So maybe one of the more subtle drops. Another is the Mario portraits featured in some of the older games in the series, A Link to the Past even rewards you rupees for tugging on the plumbers mustache.

18. One of the Greatest Villains

He has taken many forms and he's bested the greatest gamers among us. He even placed 6th in the WhatCulture! 50 greatest video game villains of all time. The result was a young mischievous boy, giving the moon an extremely frightening face and bringing it crashing down onto a small town.
