7 Ways PES 2018 Is Better Than FIFA 18

4. Master League's Challenge Mode Reinvents It

Let's face it, the PES Master League was in dire need of a refresh after 2017. You were fooling nobody with a game mode stuck in 2006, Konami. It was time to hit the update button and see what else was out there, or at least add to it. Whomever came up with Master League's Challenge Mode is a genius then.

Challenge completely reinvents the game world in PES 2018. In regular ML, it's possible to sign pretty much any top footballer you want with the oodles of cash for transfer and salary budgets at your disposal. In Challenge, that's not the case. There, you'll be forced to strategise and joust with other clubs for the players you want.

It's a much more realistic system overall. There aren't any negotiation cutscenes like in FIFA, but whilst those were an excellent addition to EA's franchise, they're strangely not missed when the actual meat and potatoes of working out contracts is still the same.

PES, unlike FIFA, doesn't hide anything from you in an attempt to fake challenge. Instead, the game openly discusses player ratings without scouting and tasks you with picking the right pieces to maintain team harmony.
