9 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About Far Cry 5
7. Weapon Selection Is Pretty Uninspired
Although Far Cry's weaponry has always felt somewhat improvisational - with the rusted AKs in the second title, bow and arrow of the third and the WW2-era guns of the fourth all giving each game a distinct identity - the latest release's arsenal feels somewhat bog-standard in comparison.
Made up mostly of franchise staples, the new weapons don't offer any new options in combat, simply filling out your regular machine guns, shotguns and snipers that are pretty much interchangeable at this point.
Sure, there are some "prestige" versions of certain weapons, but the difference between these and the regular arsenal is purely cosmetic, and doesn't fundamentally change anything.
It's just a bit boring; once you have the weapons you know get the job done, there's no incentive to switch things up, and on the other side of things, makes every enemy encounter too familiar because they all wield the same guns as you do.
They sound and feel better than ever, but that doesn't make up for the selection being so uninspired.
